The Hannah Banana shop started over ten years ago as a break-away from Eurosport across the road.
Everyone thought that we were crazy to call an inline skate shop by that name, but as we had a Hannah
Woodruff working with us we found that all Hannahs seem invariably to be called Hannah Banana or Hannah
Spanner. We thought that was pretty funny. The name became so popular that we had special black and yellow
mugs made with the name on. Tourists from various parts of the world wanted to take a souvenir from us as
a present for people called Hannah back home.
The shop went well for two years until we had to move as the building was condemned, pulled down, and sold
off. Hannah left and we moved back across the road to upstairs above Eurosport. Soon we had a new manageress
called Hannah Tombs so we kept the name going. The demand for inline skates and street hockey equipment
dropped off but we held on to the name, and now Hannah Banana is being reborn on the internet...
